Hi, I'm Pegeen, a singer-songwriter who loves singing the Great American Songbook jazz standards and am influenced by the 60's rock and blues. As a result, I've been dabbling in songwriting the past decade and have completed an EP of some of my original songs called

Excuse Me!

A rock 'n blues 'n jazz EP now available through CD BABY, PAY PAL, and iTUNES!

Songwriting is like solving a puzzle. It is both challenging and fun!
Check out some lyrics and pics!

Recording a CD is a lot of work but a great process.
Here's how Excuse Me! was made.

Expressing yourself through music is magical and a privilege. There are many ways to express one's self. Here are a couple of ways through voice and my own odd observations.
Check out a couple of voice lessons, it's not just for singers!

A WORD ABOUT EXCUSE ME!

 Over the last many years, I've been singing and writing songs and learning to make them better through workshops & consultations, but have never felt I could spend the money to record them. I also work full time  and am a bit (a lot)
disorganized with my spare time. And honestly, it felt kinda selfish to spend the money on myself. I made a few demos but would settle for less quality for less money, and they just were not something I could use. Kind of a waste, huh?

I'm really good at THINKING and TALKING about my music career and all the stuff that I want to do. One day my hubby suggested I quit talking about it and just do it! He got me a new guitar for xmas and encouraged me to purchase a laptop to work on my music. (Thanks, I needed that!)

In 2007, I got the name of a good recording engineer, Ken Kruckenberg, and met with him. He suggested if I had a budget, rather than stretching it out to record ten songs with half the production quality, record five songs with Really Good Quality. I really lucked out too because Ken has been doing this forever and he is really good at his craft. AND he's an honest and straight forward cookie!

So, I sold my motorcycle and used the money to get started! I picked a few songs and recorded a basic guitar track on my computer (Cubase software) to show Ken how I wanted the songs to sound, and then he created a full production of it. He began with a basic drum and bass sound on the computer, and then he added instruments with his guitar and keyboards, and recorded my lead vocals and my background vocals. Wha-lah!! He mastered my EP and it's ready to go! Yeah! Mastered & copyright 2008, cool!

By the way, Ken teaches a Pro Tools class in SLC. If you're interested, let me know and I'll get your info to him.

So thank you to:

My hubby for supporting me and understanding me;

Matthew for playing awesome guitar for A Parting Word and encouraging me; Nicko for creating my logo, and giving me the straight feedback I need (will you play drums on my next cd?); and Ken, thanks so much for teaching me about audio production, your collaboration, and working so hard to create a good product. It was a pleasure....
